Press release from North Carolina Department of Transportation:
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is ready to begin replacing a bridge on Sharon Road over Cane Creek in Fairview.
Starting as early as Monday, drivers will be detoured from Cane Creek Road to U.S. 74A to Upper Brush Creek Road until construction is complete in March.
Contract crews will be replacing the narrow bridge just south of Cane Creek Road on Sharon Road with a new 28-foot wide bridge as part of a $3 million contract which includes replacing three other bridges.
Crews from R.E. Burns and Sons of Statesville have completed new bridge construction on Church Road and Village Road in Fairview as well as Beans Creek Road in Mitchell County.
Transportation officials remind drivers to slow down in work zones and obey all posted signs.
