Press release from Buncombe County Health and Human Services:
We are excited to announce “Let’s Talk COVID: Youth Voices,” a live town hall event designed to center the voices and experiences of our youth in the time of COVID-19. This event is taking place on Wednesday, October 28th from 5:30-6:30 PM in English on the Buncombe County Government Facebook Page and in Spanish on the BCHHS Facebook Page.
Lead by the Asheville Buncombe Futures Movement (ABFM), panelists on this “youth-lead, adult guided” will discuss the young adult experience, challenges and resilience during this global pandemic. This conversation will be guided using the Head, Heart, and Hands framework from the award-winning Student Opioid Summit in Buncombe County.
This event is supported and coordinated by RHA Prevention Services and Buncombe County Public Health in conjunction with the Partnership for Substance Free Youth in Buncombe County. We are committed to guiding and supporting youth panelists with comprehensive orientation and preparation. We are taking special precautions to ensure this is a healthy space for young people, such as by disabling comments for online broadcast platforms.
Please tune in on Facebook to watch this virtual town hall and gain a deeper understanding of the experience of area young people during COVID-19. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation is provided by our partners at Cenzontle.
