Press release from the Asheville Police Department:
At 3:30 a.m. on January 18, the Asheville Police Department (APD) was notified by staff at Mission Hospital that a victim suffering from a gunshot wound had arrived at the hospital. Officers spoke with witnesses of the shooting and learned that the victim was shot while riding in a car that was traveling north on Hendersonville Road.
The investigation found that the car was traveling north on Hendersonville Road near the Blue Ridge Parkway when shooting began from a 2015 red Nissan Altima traveling behind it. The car that victim was riding in was shot multiple times. The victim suffered one gunshot wound and is currently in critical, but stable condition.
The suspect vehicle was later located with the assistance of the Biltmore Forest Police Department.
The Asheville Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying the driver and passengers of the 2015 red Nissan Altima. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to contact the APD at 828-252-1110, or by submitting an anonymous tip.
