9th annual Carolina Brotherhood ride: Cycling across NC and SC to support those lost in the line of duty

Press release from Asheville Fire Department

The 9th annual Carolina Brotherhood ride picks back up after a year off due to COVID-19 and is set to take off from Asheville on June 14 and finish on June 18, covering 650 miles. The six-day ride will include eight riders from AFD and APD and will cover 130 miles on the first day, paying respect to two local firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. They are AFD’s engineer Will Willis, who died on February 27, 2018, and Reynolds Fire Chief Richard Sales, who died on April 18, 2018. The first day will also honor the legacies of Roaring River firefighter Bobby Shew, Dallas corporal Travis Wells, and York County detective Michael Doty.

The Carolina Brotherhood ride is an annual cycling event made up of firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel from both North and South Carolina. They ride in the name of our fallen brothers and sisters from the Carolinas. The riders build awareness and appreciation of the sacrifice these extraordinary individuals have made and seek to honor their memory.
