Press release from Folkmoot USA:
Waynesville, NC— August 31, 2022 —Folkmoot USA, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to sharing a cultural understanding of all Nations and their history, announces the inaugural program of its “Life Long Learning” education initiative. Conceived by Dr. Darryl Nabors, a retired local dentist, this new initiative will embrace a variety of subjects tailored to anyone with an interest to learn.
“Our objective is to encourage affordable lifelong learning in a comfortable, relaxed social environment on subjects that interest each individual. This could be a great service to our community as an instrument to engage retirees and all that have time available to learn of our area’s history and to be more involved in our community,” said Nabors.
Impactful Subjects
To begin the program, there will be six courses available, each lasting six weeks beginning the first week of October. The course subjects are: Swedish Weaving; History – Haywood County Beginnings; Introduction to Birds & Birding; The Civil War in Haywood County; Introduction to Comedy Improvisation; and Introduction to Genealogy.
“The classes are extremely affordable, with only a $20 per course fee for each subject. There will be many additional subjects offered in the future, and our intention is to develop the 2023 full curriculum based on the 2022 results with feedback from class attendees,” said Brett Pinkston, Operations Manager at Folkmoot USA.
