Asheville Police investigating multiple gun discharges in West Asheville, no injuries

Press release from the Asheville Police Department:

Asheville Police Department is investigating multiple gun discharges that were reported around 1 a.m. [Saturday morning] in West Asheville.  There are no reports of injuries.

APD Patrol Officers responded to the 1000 block of Patton Ave. around 1:30 a.m. on reports of multiple gun discharges, where they found a vehicle that had been hit with at least half a dozen rounds.  Officers were informed that two or possibly three unidentified men began shooting at an occupied vehicle at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle reportedly returned gunfire, and the other men fled the scene.  Fortunately, there are no reports of any injuries.

Criminal Investigations Division Detectives and Forensic Technicians are investigating.
