Asheville City government offices will be closed Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Here is a roundup of City service holiday schedules.
ART bus service
ART bus service will be suspended November 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Thanksgiving is one of two holidays during which the City of Asheville’s ART system closes. Sanitation schedule
Garbage and recycling collection will be suspended Thanksgiving Day, November 24. Customers with Thursday garbage and recycling (A week ) collection will have trash and recycling collected Friday, November 25. Garbage should be placed by the curb by 7 a.m. Brush will be collected Monday-Wednesday Thanksgiving week. Any brush that was missed will be collected the following week.

Parks & Recreation
All APR parks are open daily from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. This includes greenways, playgrounds, dog parks, outdoor sport courts and fields, river access points, and Riverside Cemetery.
All recreation and community centers are closed November 24 and November 25, but outdoor amenities such as playgrounds, sports courts and fields, and picnic tables and benches are available. Linwood Crump Shiloh, Stephens-Lee, and Tempie Avery Montford community centers reopen at 9 a.m. and Grove Street Community Center (formerly Senior Opportunity Center) hosts an open house with arts and crafts, puzzles, cornhole, ping pong, and more on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on November
Aston Park Tennis Center, the WNC Nature Center, and Asheville Municipal Golf Course will be closed Thanksgiving Day but will reopen on a normal schedule Friday, November 25.
Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville
The Harris Cherokee Center Asheville will be closed Thanksgiving Day and the following day, Friday, November 25.
Public safety and Water Resources
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate on a normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Water Resources staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend. Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.
