City Council calls for the formation of an independent review committee into water infrastructure

Press release from city of Asheville:

The City Council will be appointing an independent review committee focused on reviewing the recent water outage. This committee will be tasked with assessing the City’s response to events and identify infrastructure and /or procedural needs to prevent future issues.

The independent review committee will be multi-disciplinary and include both subject matter experts and impacted water customers. Creation of the committee will be under discussion at the next Asheville City Council meeting scheduled for Jan 10, 2023

This outage impacted both customers inside and outside the City limits. As emergency response is a collaborative effort of the city and county, the county has requested to be able to appoint some of the representatives to serve on the independent review committee.
