Asheville Police investigating motorcycle fatality

Asheville, NC (February 23, 2023): Asheville Police Department Patrol Officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon that claimed the life of a motor.

Officers responded to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Patton Ave and Old Haywood Rd around 4:14 p.m. on Feb. 22. Jericho Justin Lands (03/27/1985) was operating a 1999 Honda CBR traveling westbound on Patton Avenue approaching the intersection when a 2022 Chevy Suburban traveling east on Smokey Park Highway was making a left turn onto Old Haywood Road. The motorcycle and the SUV collided in the intersection.  Lands was transported to Mission Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where later that evening, he succumbed to his injuries; next of kin was notified.

Westbound traffic on Patton Avenue at Old Haywood Road was temporarily shut down as officers worked the scene.
