As a lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Sara Disher Ratliff is genuinely invested in the success of our schools and the well-being of our community. She is committed to working collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and community stakeholders to address the unique needs of both District 2 and the county to ensure that every child has access to a quality education.
With a deep understanding of the challenges facing working parents in our community and a passion for ensuring every child receives a quality education, Sara brings a unique perspective to the race. In a time when many working parents feel marginalized and underrepresented in the educational decision-making process, Sara is determined to give them a voice. She understands the importance of balancing the demands of work and family life while advocating for policies that support working parents and prioritize the needs of students.
Key priorities of Sara’s campaign include:
1. Empowering Working Parents: Sara believes that working parents deserve a seat at the table when it comes to shaping education policies that affect their children’s futures. She will be a vocal advocate for policies that support working families, including flexible scheduling options, and increased parental involvement in school decision-making.
2. Promoting Academic Excellence: Sara recognizes the importance of a quality education in preparing students for success in life. She will prioritize policies that emphasize academic excellence, accountability, and transparency, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
3. Advocating for Safe Schools: Sara is commitied to creating safe learning environments where all students feel valued and supported. She will work to strengthen school safety measures, including advocating for the presence of appropriately trained School Resource Officers, address bullying and mental health concerns, and promote policies that respect the diversity of our community.
4. Fiscal Responsibility: As a fiscal conservative, Sara understands the importance of responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. She will advocate for conservative policies that prioritize spending on essential resources, eliminate wasteful spending, and ensure accountability in budgeting decisions.
