2 Weaverville schools placed on brief lockdown Wednesday

Message from Weaverville Police Deptartment:

On the morning of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in an abundance of caution, Weaverville Elementary School and Weaverville Primary School were placed on perimeter lockdown for a brief period. This decision was made in response to multiple loud noises reported in the residential areas surrounding North Main Street. The lockdown remained in effect until law enforcement officials confirmed that there were no public safety concerns. It was later determined that the noises were most likely associated with a private 9/11 commemoration.
