Thanks for reading through to the end…
We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
Wonderful. Thanks for capturing the boisterous & gala parade and arrival. But what happened next at Firestorm, after the Flying Donkeys arrived? A Punch and Judy show?
Well, we did just schedule a Science Fiction Puppet show for May 28th, but were taking a turn for the serious with some awesome events the rest of this week, including a talk by Ryan Conrad, editor of “Against Equality, a Queer Critic of Gay Marriage” on Wednesday night. Since you asked ;).
Oh and that parade included some amazing folks from Bread and Puppet who are performing Wednesday at Penland.
Oh, oops, misread your comment. It was a fabulous variety show, puppets, minstrels, poems and comedy.
I only caught a little bit of the show. The part I saw was vaudeville-like puppet stuff.
The song is: The Dummy Song, most famously recorded by Louis Armstrong.
