Flood Gallery recruited guest juror Diana Stoll,editor of Aperture Magazine, for the first in a series of annual juried shows.

“The Flood Gallery and Fine Arts Center at Phil Mechanic Studios is immensely pleased to announce the opening of Greedy Brute: A Juried Exhibition About Politics and Society. The show will open this Friday, Jan. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Phil Mechanic Studios.
The exhibition features oil and acrylic paintings, digital and manipulated photography, woodblock prints, drawings, found objects and an array of three-dimensional sculptural and ceramic works from artists based in Asheville and across the United States. Greedy Brute is the first installment for the Flood Gallery’s new series of annual juried exhibitions taking place each January.
This year’s inaugural showing was juried by Aperture Magazine editor and Asheville resident Diana Stoll.
Stoll, who has lived in Asheville for 14 years, has served as a contributor and senior editor for Aperture Magazine for nearly 20 years. For 60 years, the Aperture Foundation has acted as a connecting force between artists and the international photography community. The multifaceted nonprofit hosts exhibitions, fundraisers, and publishes a books and the flagship quarterly magazine. Aside from her position as an active editor and writer, Stoll also edits books and catalogs for The Museum of Modern Art and has previously worked for Artforum magazine.
