Plan 9 from Planet Partisan

Have malevolent aliens invaded City/County Plaza? It may be “just a feeling,” but local URTV personality and Google Video vlogger Ralph Roberts has a theory about the way Asheville City Council has been acting recently. Could all their decisions really be the result of a mind-control beam sent by “illegal aliens” from outer space?

“The Day Asheville Stood Still” is actually less sci-fi story than thinly veiled political commentary, as Roberts hints that only extraterrestrial forces could be behind Council’s recent actions. While his CGI work isn’t likely to win him any awards, it’s hard to fault his Swiftian method of creating a fiction to reveal a larger point.

“It was not until I listened the next day to a popular local talk-show host that I learned the full import of the devastation caused by these mind beams. … These aliens caused the four of the target group to vote for the dastardly Planet Partisan power grab. This is the only explanation I can offer for four normally intelligent persons making such a huge mistake.”
