5th Annual PlottFest is June 18-19
As the proud home the official North Carolina State Dog, the Plott Hound, Haywood County is gearing up for the 5th Annual PlottFest as it tracks it’s way back to the Maggie Valley Fair Grounds June 18-19th, 2016. The Plott Family, who settled in Haywood County by way of Germany in the early 1800’s, have developed and bred the Plott Hound for over 200 years.
UNC Asheville “Facing Project” to examine community issue of affordable housing
UNC Asheville will be one of five colleges and universities in North Carolina to carry out a “facing project” beginning this fall, examining a community issue through the collection and sharing of individual stories.
Carolina Farm Credit holds luncheon to recognize grant recipients
Veterans Healing Farm was recently awarded a Corporate Mission Fund Grant from Carolina Farm Credit. It plans to use the funds to purchase and install storage shed to house equipment. The mission of the Veterans Healing Farm is to aid veterans reintegrating into civilian life by growing produce, raising farm animals, and conducting seminars on holistic health and sustainability.
