Press Release
From The Nature Conservancy:
ASHEVILLE – The Nature Conservancy is holding four “Work and Learn” Days at its Bat Creek Preserve in Hickory Nut Gorge. This preserve is not open to the public, so this is a great opportunity to visit a special natural area that many people never see.
During the morning, volunteers will remove invasive plants and do other work to spruce up the preserve. In the afternoon, the Conservancy will return the favor with a presentation from an expert on several nature-related topics.
All days begin at 10am and end at 3pm. Volunteers should bring a bag lunch and wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, and sturdy shoes. If you have work gloves, please bring them.
Work and Learn Dates and Topics:
March 15 – Invasive Plant Education
April 5 – Wildflowers
May 3 – Spring Flora
May 10 – Nature PhotographyBat Cave preserve harbors a number of threatened or endangered plants as well as an abundance of more common spring wildflowers, including bloodroot, toothwort, trillium, and violets. Many of those flowers will be in bloom on the work days.
To RSVP or ask questions, please contact Erin Buchholtz at erin.buchholtz@tnc.org or at (828) 350-1431, extension 104.
