Catawba, NC — Aaron Brown spent the last eight months building the ultimate street legal, land speed truck of his dreams in his Catawba, NC garage. Taking NASCAR technology with original hot rodding concepts to build the world’s fastest rat rod. He wanted something that was not just incredibly fast but also street legal.

“Being able to finally take our street legal, land speed truck to the track for full speed passes was an exciting experience,” said Brown, “We were able to go 197mph at the Ohio Mile in consecutive passes. That is pretty impressive to take a 39 FORD rat rod and be able to go that fast in a street legal, truck that our team built in our garage.”

The Ohio Mile event is sanctioned by the East Coast Timing Association and was the first event for “The Uncatchable.” Brown went to the mile in May for a test and tune session and was able to post a speed of 186mph breaking two records.

“The truck was still pulling and picking up speed at the end of the mile,” said Brown “We had some work to do, we run on all motor and no nitrous or turbo chargers so even a pass of 186mph was an amazing accomplishment for us in the first weekend out with the truck.”

Over the next couple weeks, Brown and his team completely disassembled the truck and went over it with a fine tooth comb. Some of the changes included re-ratioing the custom C&R Racing transmission along with minor engine work to help pick up some extra speed.

“We needed a little extra in third gear and C&R Racing didn’t let us down,” said Brown “They worked on the transmission and helped get us another 11mph.”

Just a few short weeks after their test run at the Ohio Mile, The Garage Shop crew was back with “The Uncatchable”. In four passes, Brown motored to four more records including a top overall speed of 197.281mph.

In all, Brown lays claim to five records in the following classes: Class A – Unblown Gas Super Street (192.637), Class B – Unblown Gas Super Street (186.567), Class A – Gas Real Street (196.163), Class B – Gas Real Street (197.195) and Class C – Gas Real Street (197.281).

“It’s a unique and different truck which makes it very enjoyable to work on,” said Doug Ramey from Roush Yates Performance Products, “To be able to assembly a 39 FORD truck out of 75% used parts available at Roush Yates Performance Products is amazing to me. To be able to go 197mph was a big accomplishment. It went straight, it was fast, it was reliable and well put together which made working on it easy.”
