APD detectives arrest man on gun charges

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (May 17, 2024): Asheville Police Detectives arrested a felon and confiscated a firearm during proactive enforcement in west Asheville on Thursday afternoon.

APD Detectives located Shiiquan Dajshon Seshawn McAlpin (03/13/2002) on May 16th around 5:18 p.m. near the 100 block of New Leicester Highway. McAlpin, who was wanted for a parole violation, was taken into custody. 

During the arrest, detectives discovered that McAlpin was illegally in possession of a firearm. This is a violation of his parole conditions, as he was previously convicted for shooting Deveon Chambers in April of 2021. McAlpin was supposed to be living in Charlotte as part of his parole agreement.

Seized:

-Taurus G2C pistol (9mm)

Arrested:

Shiiquan Dajshon Seshawn McAlpin (03/13/2002)

-Parole Violation

-Possession of Firearm by Felon

-Carrying a Concealed Gun

-Resist, Delay, Obstruct

McAlpin was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) by a magistrate due to the Pretrial Integrity Act and Parole Violation.

    Wait, criminals don’t follow gun laws? Maybe we need more “common sense” gun laws that they will also ignore.
