Asheville Police are investigating a shooting that occurred near downtown Asheville on Wednesday evening and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter.
Officers responded to the 100 block of Cherry Street North to investigate reports of a gun discharge around 5:56 p.m. on November 20th. When officers arrived, the suspect was no longer on scene. While canvassing the area, officers located 3 empty shell casings, 1 live round of ammunition, and blood on the sidewalk. Around the same time, they learned of a victim with a gunshot wound arriving at Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Through their investigation, officers believe 3 males may be involved. One male is described as having blonde hair, in his early 20’s, wearing a blue sweatshirt or jacket, with a vehicle involved believed to be a black sedan, possibly a Lexus.
