APD responds to five overdose deaths in a 48-hour period, warns of “potentially dangerous” batch of fentanyl

Press release from the Asheville Police Department: 

The Asheville Police Department (APD) is warning the public of a potentially dangerous batch of suspected fentanyl that may be circulating throughout our community. Over a 48-hour period from January 14-January 16, APD responded to five deaths related to suspected overdoses.

If you are suffering from addiction and seeking assistance, the Asheville Police Department encourages you to contact Vaya Health at (800) 849-6127.

If you have any information regarding these deaths that you would like to share with the Asheville Police Department, you can send an anonymous tip using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store) or by texting TIP2APD to 847411. You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
