APD seeks public assistance in gun theft investigation after Hurricane Helene

Asheville Police are on the lookout for a suspect(s) who broke into a local gun business earlier this month and stole multiple guns before leaving the building.

APD officers responded to Carolina Guns and Gear West at 3106 Sweeten Creek Road on October 1st to investigate reports of a breaking and entering in progress. During a time when power was out across much of the area and many roads and buildings were inaccessible, suspect(s) unlawfully entered the business and stole multiple firearms and other devices.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) have announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime.
APD is continuing their investigation and working in conjunction with agents from Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms on this case and would like to thank the ATF for their continued support and collaboration as we work together to address gun violence in our city.
