Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:
Asheville – On 07/22/2012 at approximately 11:39 AM APD Officers were dispatched to the area of Brevard Rd. and I-240 to assist EOC with a female reportedly thrown from a vehicle. Officers located 34 year old Amanda Byington of Tennessee sitting near the roadway covered by a sheet. Witnesses stated she was was running from a vehicle, later determined to be driven by 40 year old Roy Wayne Byington also of Tennessee.
Investigators learned the Byington’s were involved in violent domestic dispute that originated in the vehicle. Ms. Byington was assaulted before she escaped from the vehicle, only to be pursued by her husband and struck by the 1998 Chevy pick up truck. She was knocked into another passing vehicle. Roy Byington fled the scene in the vehicle. The vehicle was located a few hours later off Vista Blvd. in the county.
Warrants were obtained on Roy Wayne Byington for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury. He is currently at large. He is entered into the NCIC computer as a fugitive from justice. No photo is available for Roy Byington at this time. He is described as a white male, 6′ 2″ medium build with blond hair and blue eyes. Sullivan County Tennessee authorities have been notified.
