Asheville City and Buncombe County schools, A-B Tech announce 2-hour delay for Monday, Sept. 17

Press release from Asheville City Schools:

Please know that our Transportation and Maintenance Departments have been busy monitoring road conditions and weather throughout the weekend.  Due to downed power lines, debris on the roads and Buncombe County’s flash flood warning, Asheville City Schools will be operating on a two-hour delay for all students and staff members tomorrow, Monday, September 17th.

A grab and go breakfast will be available for students upon their arrival.

We will continue to monitor road conditions throughout the evening and tomorrow morning.

In the event of further changes, we will alert local media outlets, make another phone call as well as update the district website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

If you are without power, our ACS Weather Hotline can also be called for the most up-to-date information at (828) 350-6188.

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

All Buncombe County Schools will be operating on a two-hour delay for students tomorrow, Monday, September 17.We want to give student drivers and bus drivers ample time to safely get on the road tomorrow morning and navigate with plenty of daylight.

Please stay tuned for potential changes to this decision based upon worsening conditions overnight and in the early morning hours. In the event one or more districts have to be closed, notification will be sent to all media outlets, employees, and parents as soon as possible.

Employees should report to work at their normal time if they are able to travel safely.  Employees who will be arriving to work later than their normal start time must communicate with their principal or supervisor.

A-B Tech will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday, 9/17 in all locations. All students and employees should report to wherever they would normally be at 10 a.m.
