Press release from Asheville Police Department:
Asheville, NC (June 9, 2023): Asheville Police Department Detectives charged an Asheville man for stabbing another man multiple times in the face and neck and assaulting another victim early Thursday morning in downtown Asheville.
APD Officers responded to the 440 block of Haywood Road around 12:02 a.m. on June 8 for reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene on foot. Two victims were located, one of which had been stabbed seven times in the neck and face. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. The second victim that was assulted was able to stay on the scene and help officers identify the suspect.
After an initial investigation, APD Officers identified Larry Vernon Minish (01/26/1961) as a suspect. Officers canvassed the nearby area and located Minish, along with physical evidence, near State Street and safely took him into custody.
After a thorough investigation, Detectives charged Minish with the following:
-Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill
-Assault with a Deadly Weapon
-Resist/ Delay/Obstruct
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Minish is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $251,000.00 secured bond (or $25,100 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
