Asheville, NC (December 6, 2024): Asheville Police arrested a woman suspected of setting fire to a vehicle at a business Thursday night.
Officers responded to the 600 block of Brevard Road around 11:02 p.m. on December 5th to assist the Asheville Fire Department (AFD) with a vehicle fire. Prior to arrival, AFD observed a person walking away from the scene, heading south. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area, located a person walking on the road, and saw that she fit the description of the person fleeing the fire. Samantha Marie Scott (11/23/1990) was taken into custody without incident.
Scott was charged with Felony Burning Personal Property, Felony Burning of a Commercial Structure-Unoccupied, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Scott was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $40,000 (or $4,000 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
