Asheville Police investigating Friday night cyclist fatality

Press release from Asheville Police:

Asheville Police Department Patrol Officers are investigating a fatality collision in which a cyclist was struck by a vehicle on Patton Avenue yesterday evening.

Jason Dean Wyatt (10/17/1977) was on his bicycle traveling Eastbound near the 870 block of Patton Avenue around 10:17 p.m. on November 11 when he was struck by a vehicle. Wyatt succumbed to his injuries on the scene; next of kin notification was made by Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and remained on the scene.

Eastbound traffic on Patton Avenue was temporarily blocked off in the area as officers worked the scene.

The collision is still being investigated. If anyone has any information about the incident please contact APD at 828-252-1110, or you can send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411.
