Asheville Police investigating shooting on Livingston Street

Asheville, NC (December 6, 2024):  The Asheville Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man in critical condition and another person with minor injuries following an altercation that occurred on Livingston Street Thursday night.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound victim in the 200 block of Livingston Street around 9:00 p.m. on December 5th. Shortly after arriving, officers learned that a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck was being driven to Mission Hospital for emergency treatment. The victim remains in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries from a gunshot wound to the wrist and was treated at the hospital.

Following an investigation, the shooting occurred after an altercation in a parking lot between the victim and three unidentified Black males. During the altercation, one of the men drew a firearm and shot through the driver’s side window, striking the victim and grazing the driver. 

Detectives ask that anybody with any information about this incident or who knows the identity of the suspects, please contact the APD by calling (828) 252-1110.
