UPDATE: Drive-by shooting suspect arrested

UPDATE Asheville, NC (Feb. 20, 2023):  Zachary Carson Waters (07/02/2004) was located and arrested on Feb. 19. Waters was booked into the Buncombe County Jail on a $10,000 secure bond (or $1,000 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.

Asheville, NC (Feb. 10, 2023): Further investigation by Asheville Police Detectives determined Zachary Carson Waters (07/02/2004) was more involved in the drive-by shooting.

As a result, Waters has been charged with three additional charges. Discharging a Firearm from an Enclosure, Discharging a Firearm in City Limits, and Going Armed to the Terror of People.

APD is asking for the public’s help in locating Waters, who is described as an 18-year-old black male, 5’8”, 140 pounds, with brown hair, and brown eyes. If you know Waters whereabouts, please do not approach; he is considered armed and dangerous.

Detectives are asking if you have any information or know Waters whereabouts to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store). You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
