Full announcement from the city of Asheville:
ASHEVILLE – This week the City of Asheville launched an online hiring system which will improve the applicant experience and provide for efficiencies in the recruitment and selection process. Reducing redundancies and saving a lot of paper, the system is easily accessible from the front page of the city’s website. All job postings will also be posted on the www.governmentjobs.com website.
In order to receive the full benefit of the automated service, all applications must now be submitted online. Candidates without access to the internet are invited to visit the human resources department where computers, and technical support if needed, will be available.
“The benefits of the new software are wide in range,” said Human Resources Director Kelley Dickens. “There will be important improvements in the efficiency of the workflow process but most importantly, there will be exciting improvements in the applicant experience.”
The new software allows applicants to save a profile online to make applying for future vacancies easier, check the status of an application, view a history of applications submitted online, and sign up to be notified of future job openings in specific job categories. “We average about 330 unique views to the employment opportunities page on the website each day,” said Dickens. “We are convinced these tools will make it easier to stay connected with applicants and enhance our efforts to recruit and select the most qualified and professional workforce.”
