City of Asheville Martin Luther King holiday schedule

From the city of Asheville:

ASHEVILLE – Asheville city government offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate according to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week – during the holiday. Water Resources will have an on call duty officer and additional crews to respond to emergency and customer related issues throughout the holiday weekend. To report water issues, customers can call (828) 251-1122.

Garbage and recycling service will occur on the regular schedule.

All Parks and Recreation Department facilities will be closed with the exception of the following facilities: city parks, Western North Carolina Nature Center, Asheville Municipal Golf Course, Food Lion Skatepark, and the holiday camp for youth at the Stephens Lee Center which will run from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required for the camp.

The City of Asheville ART service routes and facilities will operate on a reduced holiday schedule. The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday is one of six holidays throughout the calendar year that ART offers service. Routes E1 and E2 will experience detours between 12 noon and 1:00 p.m. for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace March and Rally. For route info go to: www.RidetheART.com.
