A group coming together under the leadership of Asheville residents Inge and Imke Durre will meet to discuss how the collective can preserve a particular urban forest of mature oak trees. The current land owner will allow the trees to be replaced by the planned Collier Avenue Apartment Complex if he cannot find a buyer who wants to preserve them.
“The City Council and City Staff are currently exploring land swap options that might include other deals with the owner,” Inge explains. “However, the community are asked to step up to the plate to help foot costs to the city.”
