Here’s the press release from Environment North Carolina:
OUTDOOR BUSINESSES AND ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY GROUPS TO CALL ON PRESIDENT OBAMA TO PROTECT THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY
What: Environment North Carolina will release a letter cosigned by local and national environmental groups and businesses calling on President Obama to protect the Blue Ridge Parkway and other treasured parks across the state.
The letter comes as North Carolina’s local, state and national parks—which have enjoyed record numbers of visitors in recent years—face sweeping budget cuts. At the same time, too many of the lands adjacent to and within our parks lack permanent protection from logging and development.
When: A news release accompanying the letter with all co-signers will be made available to the media and to the public on our website www.environmentnorthcarolina.org after 10 AM on Tuesday, March 5th, 2013.
Liz Kazal, Environment North Carolina’s Field Associate will be available for interviews.
