French Broad River MPO announces public comment period for two programs

To FBRMPO Board Members, TCC Members, interested stakeholders and citizens, Public Information Officers and media partners—

This notice is to let you know that the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization is holding a public comment period for project selection criteria for two federally-funded programs: Transportation Alternatives and STP-DA (Surface Transportation Program-Direct Allocation). FBRMPO will open the call for Transportation Alternatives and STP-DA projects on May 23rd and the call will continue through July 31, 2014. A total of $6.1 million in STP-DA funding and $566,000 in Transportation Alternatives funding will be available in the French Broad River MPO region for the 2014 call for projects. Local government sponsors who are members of the French Broad River MPO can apply during this call for projects. A 20% local match is required. A variety of transportation projects may be funded, including roadway, transit capital, bicycle and pedestrian projects and planning and feasibility studies (some of those project types are eligible for only one of the two programs, and some for both).

The public comment period for TA and STP-DA selection criteria is open from May 7 through May 21, 2014. Please submit your comments to mpo@landofsky.org by close of business day on May 21st. Comments may also be submitted by phone to 828-251-7444 or in person during the FBRMPO Board meeting on Thursday, May 22nd at 12:30 PM at Land of Sky Regional Council offices, 339 New Leicester Hwy, Ste 130, Asheville, NC 28806.
