Is Bamboo for You?
Join us at Headwaters Outfitters on Saturday, April 4th at 2:00P.M. for a special presentation by bamboo fly rod maker Lou Dondero from On The Rise Bamboo Rods.
Lou will discuss the bamboo rod building process from start to finish as well as the process of restoring old bamboo fly rods. From One the Rise Bamboo Fly Rod- “Whether you are new to fly fishing or are a seasoned fly fishers, the fact that you are thinking about a Bamboo (Split Cane) Fly Rod means you are headed in the right direction to experiencing unmatched all natural fly fishing. On the Rise solid handmade bamboo fly rods have a feel and action that cannot be obtained with hollow manufactured composite / graphite fishing poles. If ever you have an opportunity to do a side by side comparison you will quickly realize what I mean. Composite fly rods are assembly line manufacturing attempts to mimic the feel and action of all natural bamboo fly rods. They are not bamboo. Bamboo is bamboo: nature’s gift to fly fishing….. “The Lovely Reed”.”
If you have an old bamboo rod laying around that you’ve been thinking about restoring, bring it along and let Lou take a look at it. Lou will also have some finished samples of his work so that attendees can feel the difference between a finely crafted bamboo fly rod and the composite rods most of us fish today.
This event is free and we hope to see you there!
