Update: Homicide victim identified

From Asheville Police Department:

Update, Oct. 7: Asheville, NC (October 7, 2024): Asheville Police Department Detectives are releasing the name of the decedent from Thursday morning’s homicide, following next of kin notification.

Kendall Deangelo Gilliam (09/29/1991) has been identified as the man who was fatally stabbed on October 3rd on Short Michigan Avenue.

The case is still under investigation. If anyone has information about this case, please send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search “Asheville PD” in your app store). You can also call APD at (828) 252-1110.


Oct. 4: Raqwean Jarrel Savage (03/28/1997) has been taken into custody.
