Man charged with firing gun inside restaurant

Press release from Asheville Police Department:

Asheville, NC (October 18, 2024): Asheville Police arrested a man who discharged a firearm in a restaurant in south Asheville on Thursday night. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Asheville Police responded to a restaurant in the 1900 block of Hendersonville Road around 8:09 p.m. on October 17th to investigate reports of a man discharging a firearm inside the business. When officers arrived, they quickly obtained a description of the subject and were able to locate him hiding in a nearby underground culvert. He was taken into custody without further incident. As part of the investigation, officers were able to locate the discarded firearm that was used in the shooting.

Ochoa was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $62,000 (or $6,200 to a bondsman) secured bond issued by a magistrate.
