(Peggy) Noel was recently awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of North Carolina’s highest honors, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to her community and exemplary service within the state.Dr. Noel, a highly esteemed Geriatric Specialist with over 35 years of dedicated service, has been a cornerstone of healthcare in North Carolina. A graduate of Davidson College and UNC School of Medicine, she completed her residency and fellowship in geriatrics at Wake Forest University, achieving Board Certification in Internal Medicine with Added Qualifications in Geriatrics.Beyond her clinical achievements, Dr. Noel has been actively involved in medical education, mentoring countless students and professionals in the field of geriatrics. She has held influential positions with the American Medical Directors Association and the Alzheimer’s Association, further amplifying her impact on the healthcare landscape.Throughout her career, she has spearheaded pioneering initiatives and assumed leadership roles. In 2000, she founded MemoryCare™ in Asheville, an innovative organization that has transformed dementia care in the region.
