Motorists advised to avoid Hillard and South French Broad avenues

Press release from United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County:

Asheville, NC – Local motorists are advised to avoid the corner of Hilliard Ave and S. French Broad Avenue in downtown Asheville between Monday, March 6, and Friday, March 17.

The right turn lane on Hilliard Ave and 6 parking spots along S. French Broad will be closed during repair and reconstruction work on the deteriorating retaining wall on that corner. Kestrel Construction will manage this project.

Purchased in 1985 by United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, the building continues to serve as the organization’s own home office and as an affordable downtown rental to a number of local nonprofits including Africa Healing Exchange, Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC, Bountiful Cities, Center for Participatory Change, Junior League of Asheville, Just Economics, NC Services for the Blind, OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling, Operation Gateway, Seek Healing, Sistas Caring 4 Sistas, Skill Creations, and The Arc of Buncombe County.
