HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The North Carolina National Guard (NCNG) and state and federal public safety agencies will conduct a domestic and homeland security exercise on Thursday June 8, 2017, at Guion Farm. NCHART (North Carolina Helicopter and Aquatic Rescue Team) will conduct helicopter search and rescue training at Guion Farm throughout the day.
Operation Vigilant Catamount, led by the North Carolina National Guard, will have dozens of local, state and federal disaster response agencies participating, to include the U.S. Air Force from Seymour Johnson Air Base. The exercise runs from 6-14 June throughout western N.C. and is designed to test and improve the integration of multiple local, state and federal partners during natural or man-made disasters.
Operation Vigilant Catamount is a joint multi-county disaster response exercise in western North Carolina. North Carolina Helicopter and Aquatic Rescue Team (NCHART) will conduct helicopter search and rescue training.
