Performance-based storytelling training offered at Earth Haven Nov. 4-5

Eric Wolf, Oracle Award Winning Storyteller offers two Days of Performance Based Storytelling Training at the Earth Haven Eco-village.

On November 4th and November 5h there will be a weekend of Story Skill Development at the Earthaven Eco-village at 5 Consensus Cir, Black Mountain, NC 28711. Saturday will feature two beginner level workshops – Finding Your Voice as a Storyteller and Making a Thousand- Year-old Story from Scratch. Sunday will be a master class in story development.

Saturday Morning: Finding Your Voice as a Storyteller. – 9 AM to Noon – $30. Build confidence in your ability to tell stories. We will be focusing on building a positive feedback loop for the performing artist. Through one-on-one and group work we will build confidence in your ability to perform. We do this through gentle and relaxing exercises that will help you to see your natural storytelling gift. Lunch can be provided for $15

Saturday Afternoon: Making a Thousand-Year-Old Story from Scratch. – 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM – $30. Haven’t you always wanted an amazing story to pass down to your grandchildren that feels like it is hundreds of years old? This three-hour workshop will open a doorway into the creative side of your storytelling. It doesn’t matter what level of creative ability you think you have. What matters is your willingness to turn the key. The focus during this workshop is on story development. Both workshops are open to any level of storyteller.

All day Sunday: Master Class in Storytelling – 9 Am to 5 PM – $80 to $160 Sliding Scale. 7 hours of Storytelling Development. Using the Artists centered process that we have used during Saturday with the larger group we will develop the performance storied material you bring. This process places you, the content creator, at its center. Each participant will get one hour of the day where their content is the focus of our time and energy. Limited to 6 people – Lunch included.

About the Teacher: Eric J Wolf is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a small family practice in Black Mountain working with tweens and pre-teenss who have serious life challenges.

His first public performance was at the age of 8. His first paid storytelling gig was that American Museum of Natural History. He is the host and the producer of the Art of Storytelling Show a podcast where he interviewed 123 storytellers about their craft for an hour each. He received a National Oracle award in 2009 for his work with the podcast form the National Storytelling Network. He has toured nationally including Hawaii, West Coast, Mid-West, New England, and the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival.
