Serafina and the Black Cloak and its sequel, Serafina and the Twisted Staff, follow the adventures of a brave and unusual 12-year-old girl who lives hidden away in the basement of the Biltmore Estate, amidst the opulence of the Gilded Age and the rugged beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A mix of history, mystery, fantasy and adventure, the books are equally appealing to children (ages 8 and up) and adult readers.
Both books are #1 New York Times Best Sellers and have been on the best seller lists of Publisher’s Weekly, USA TODAY, Barnes & Noble and Amazon. The Southern Independent Booksellers Association named Black Cloak a recipient of the prestigious 2016 Pat Conroy Southern Book Prize. A fast favorite for teachers and students, the books are being taught in hundreds of classrooms across the nation and regularly appear on summer reading and Battle of the Books lists. The third book in the series is scheduled for release in Summer 2017.
