Press release from The Weave:
New life has come to a storefront on Main Street in Weaverville. Local artist and entrepreneur Sarah Jane Oiler has converted a former hardware store into a community art space.
Entering the The Weave pop-up market and event space, the hardwood floors may spark a memory or two of the Dietz and England Hardware store, established in 1940. In 2012, Ron Briere took ownership of the building. With a nod to the historic site, Ron opened The Home Gear Shop for antiques and collectables.
Now, The Weave breathes new life into the old building. Founder Sarah Jane Oiler’s vision of a creative community space and a private events venue has become a reality. In December 2018, The Weave held its first 2-day pop-up holiday market, “The Winter in The Weave”. 500 people attended and experienced a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Local artists and small businesses gathered to showcase and introduce themselves to the Weaverville community.
Because of the overwhelming public response to the holiday market, Oiler was given the opportunity to coordinate future pop-up markets throughout the year, including the 2nd Annual “Winter in The Weave”.
The Weave offerings are expanding to include educational programs. Local artists from Weaverville and the surrounding area are providing workshops and ongoing classes out of the venue. A few examples out of many programs are wire bonsai tree of life dreamcatchers, macramé, introduction to painting, mandala rock painting, refurbishing and refinishing furniture, theatre acting, and wire-wrap jewelry.
The Weave is available as an event space for private rentals, such as bridal parties, baby showers, and small group seminars. Catering is available through the Crêperie and Cafe located adjacent to the event space.
Oiler says, “The enthusiasm and support from the community has been overwhelming. With the continued growth of Weaverville and increase in tourism, we are offering events for locals and tourists alike. In turn, The Weave is a new avenue for supporting local artists and small businesses.”
