UNC Asheville will host NCAA Selection Sunday event for public

Join fellow Ashevillans this Sunday, March 12 to celebrate the men’s basketball team’s successful season and experience the excitement of March Madness.

The event will be held in Kimmel Arena and is open to the public. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and at 5:30pm Vic Isley, President & CEO of Explore Asheville and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority, will kick off the event before passing the mic along to Mayor Esther Manheimer to proclaim Sunday as “UNC Asheville Men’s Basketball Day” in the city of Asheville. Interim Chancellor Dr. Kimberly van Noort, Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone, and head coach Mike Morrell will provide their remarks and rally up the crowd before the Sunday Selection show begins.

Fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet with the players, purchase Big South Conference championship t-shirts and also take pictures with the Big South Conference championship trophies. Hope to see you there!

EVENT SCHEDULE:

  • 5:00 p.m. | Doors open

  • 5:30 p.m. | Local program begins

  • 6:00 p.m. | Sunday Selection airs on ESPN

  • 7:00 p.m. | Event commences
