UNC Asheville will present three free performances of Freckle In My Eye, a one-woman show by Ashley Wilkerson, at 7 p.m. April 17-19 in UNC Asheville’s Carol Belk Theater. Freckle In My Eye is the fictional story of a woman living on death row in Texas. The performances are part of a series of events focused on the high rate of incarceration in the United States.
Wilkerson, an actress, poet and playwright, is the recipient of the Dallas/Fort Worth Theater Critics Award. She was commissioned to write and perform Freckle In My Eye by the South Dallas Cultural Center’s Diaspora Performing Arts Commissioning Program. The show won two DFW Fringe Festival Awards.
