“Economic Statecraft and Trade,” a talk by Debra Sabia, will be the first event in the “Great Decisions 2014” series, sponsored by the WNC chapter of the World Affairs Council. Sabia’s talk, co-sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNC Asheville, and the university’s Department of Political Science, takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Reuter Center on campus.
Sabia, professor of political science at Georgia Southern University, has written two books on American politics while on the faculty there: Imagining Democracy (Great River Technologies, 2012) and The American Myth of Democracy: A Crisis of Consciousness (Cognella, 2010). She is also the founder and former director of her university’s Center for Latino Outreach and Research Services and has written a variety of scholarly articles on community development, immigration, and democratization in Latin America.
