Publix supermarket announces Hendersonville Road location

Publix supermarket announced a Hendersonville Road this morning, Friday, Aug. 2.

The Asheville store, which is projected to open in 2015, will be the Florida-based grocer’s fifth location in the state. Three stores in Charlotte and one in Cary will open in 2014. 

The Asheville Publix will feature 49,000 square feet of grocery and pharmacy space.

Stores include bakery, deli, meat and seafood counters, in addition to dry goods and produce. Maria Brous, media and community relations director, told Xpress in April that the stores offer several in-house lines. “They provide the conventional, traditional items, and they also provide them with an extensive product line in health, natural and organic,” she says. “We even have a separate banner, Publix Greenwise Market.”

Publix stores also offer carry-out service, she says.

The supermarket chain operates 1,072 locations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee, according to its website.

According to a press release, “Publix continues to aggressively look for additional locations throughout the state of North Carolina.”

“It’s the first new state that we’ve entered in more than 20 years,” Brous says. “We’re excited to be coming to North Carolina.”

    Way to go Publix , we need you desperately in Asheville and also in Clayton Georgia. Your competitor has no customer service at all, and their stores can not be compared to yours, working for them is a joke. No wonder you have been voted number #1 in Forum as the best company to work .

    Good news to us. We love to shop at Publix when we go to FLA because we are from the So. Florida area.
    Always shopped at Publix first. Loved their Bakery and DELI. Looking forward to the opening.
