Writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller double down on the blatant exposition of the original Lego Movie‘s live-action scenes but keep the laugh count high enough to again warrant forgiveness. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part finds Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks) and friends navigating a Mad Max: Fury Road-inspired wasteland of tween angst experienced by its maker Finn (Jadon Sand) and fighting off “invasions” by his little sister and her Duplo creations.

The film doles out rapid-fire comedy and visual gags galore from beloved characters and new faces — including a hilarious Bruce Willis cameo — as well as a marvelous end-credits song “Super Cool,” in which Beck, Robyn and the comic rappers of The Lonely Island extol the virtues of the roll calls that follow each theatrical experience. Read the full review at ashevillemovies.com
