Mountain Xpress Community Contributor Agreement

  • You (the author) guarantee that the material you are submitting to Mountain Xpress is your original creation, submitted exclusively to Mountain Xpress.
  • You confirm that all statements of fact in the work are correct to the best of your knowledge, and that the work is not libelous and does not infringe on any copyright, common law rights, proprietary rights, rights of privacy or other rights of any individual or entity.
  • You retain the copyright on the work but grant to Mountain Xpress first exclusive publication rights for both print and Web editions. You agree to wait 14 days after Xpress publication (print and Web) before submitting the material for publication elsewhere.
  • You grant to Mountain Xpress thereafter the non-exclusive right to publish and republish the work in print or online in perpetuity; you also give permission for the work to be stored, retrieved and distributed on microfilm and online by libraries, nonprofits and entities not owned by Mountain Xpress.
  • You understand that there will be no financial compensation for the work submitted, unless this has been negotiated between you and Mountain Xpress prior to publication.
  • You acknowledge that the article will be edited in consultation with you.
  • You agree to submit contact information (telephone, e-mail, mailing address — not for publication) and, if available, a jpg headshot of you (ideally, 4×6, 200 dpi). If you don’t have such a photo, we can arrange to take one at Mountain Xpress’ offices.
  • You agree that we may use your name, image, likeness and/or biographical data to promote your work and/or Mountain Xpress.
