In a new twist, those buying the Asheville Grown Business Alliance’s Go Local discount card can now direct $5 of the purchase price to a specific city school or group.
Last year, $10 of the proceeds from each card sold benefited the Asheville City Schools and the Asheville City Schools Foundation; the remainder went to Asheville Grown. Now, however, a list of participating nonprofits gives shoppers more choice in who they support.
“Thanks to Go Local, we can keep building partnerships that ensure kids can find something fun, educational and safe to do every day after school at Asheville Middle School,” says Kate Pett, executive director of the Asheville City Schools Foundation. For more information, go to ashevillegrown.com.
