A new workout’s on the way

This is in response to recent letter complaining about the Peak Fitness center’s closing [“Feeling a Bit Peaked,” Sept. 26].

We’re very sorry to hear about the closing of one of the only options for indoor exercise for those of us on the north and west sides of town, who now will be forced to fight gridlock traffic to get to south Asheville or the always dubious prospect of finding a parking place at one of the overcrowded downtown facilities just to get in a quick workout!

Rest assured, because soon we will begin construction on a new fitness/rehabilitation/aquatic center just off West Patton Avenue, on Leicester Highway. To those of you who [were affected by the recent closing], we hope it won’t deter you from continuing your fitness program in the future, possibly even with a locally owned facility [that is] anxious to join you in building up not only muscle, but also community—two things we could all use more of.
